A team of experts and activists started a special campaign against oil and gas contracts with Canadian company NIKO that created havoc in Tengratila, Sylhet on 26 September from Dhaka, the capital city of Bangladesh. After several rallies, the campaign ended at Tengratila, Sylhet on 28 September 2005. People of the area welcomed the team and gathered in a big rally defying government ban. The rally was presided over by Engr Shaheedullah, the convener of the National Committee to protect Oil Gas Mineral resources and Port Power. Local activists including school teacher Azimuddin and national organizers of the campaign including Sculptor Abdullah Khalid addressed the rally.
