Naturally more male babies are born to the world and more occurrence of post - natal death happen to them which leads to the balance in the sex ratio at later stages. But in some Asian countries major gap has been identified in the sex-ratio which is very often described as the reflection of gender discrimination. The spread of modern ultrasound technology for sex-selective abortion and state initiated population control programs have triggered the situation increasing the possibility of death of unborn / newborn baby girls.
