Despite propaganda in this line, its popularity among Lebanese people, across religion, has been increased significantly during recent Israeli aggression. Here is an interview of Hizbullah leader Sayed Hassan Nasrallah taken by thinker and writer Eqbal Ahmad in 1998. Eqbal Ahmad died in 1999. |

Garment Industry on a Dormant Volcano of Genuine Labour Grievances |
Analysis , by
Nurul Kabir ,
3-June-2006 |
One cannot rule out ‘foreign conspiracies’ against a ‘cheap market’ — be it of labour, commodity or capital — particularly when history records hundreds of wars to capture another’s market. But before looking for conspirators outside the border, it is prudent to examine the reported grievances of the workforce within the national boundary. With the internal grievances addressed, the chances of external enemies, if there is any, to succeed diminish automatically. Nurul Kabir elaborates. |

Fulbari Coal Mine Project: Whose Profit Whose Life |
Analysis , by
Anu Muhammad ,
2-November-2005 |
Asia Energy Corporation (AEC), a British based Multinational Company in energy field has been working in Fulbari coalfield, Bangladesh. Officially the field has not yet been leased out. Although the AEC was only given the job to make feasibility study, the company has started campaigning in favour of open pit mining and behaving like the owner of the field. The Fulbari area is densely populated, mostly agricultural land, an old settlement with green field. With open pit mining around 5 lakh or 500 thousand people will have to be evicted from here and whole area will turn into barren land. With clear certainty of incredible human and environmental destruction people started questioning. On the other hand, AEC along with corrupt Government officials, Ministers and so-called experts are seen busy with preparing to grab the mine. Analyzing published materials of the AEC, Anu Muhammad brings out the extent of future damage and also points to the present lies propagated by the company and the government officials. The analysis shows that, in the name of development and foreign investment, if things go according to the corporate design, AEC will make profit of more than 1 trillion taka but people of the area will suffer loss of lives, environment and wealth, whole human settlement will be destroyed; and Bangladesh will lose financially more than 9 thousand crore taka.
