In the last week of August 2006, an unbelieving nation has watched, with increasing concern, tragedy unfold in a coal-rich area of Dinajpur. Popular protests against the Asia Energy Project had resulted in firing by the BDR on citizens, leaving at least three of them dead and more than two hundred injured.
